In classrooms, assemblies, and school parliaments across Nigeria, Head Girls and Assistant Head Girls are already leading with distinction. They are mediators, motivators, and models for excellence. But beyond the school walls, how many of these young leaders are given the tools or platforms to create real-world solutions?

It’s Back and Bigger Than Ever
The 2025 edition of the National Head Girl Competition is officially underway, and it promises to be the most dynamic one yet. With a grand prize of ₦1 million, this competition is not just about celebrating leadership, it’s about challenging it, equipping it, and spotlighting young women who are ready to lead with impact.
At its core, the competition asks a bold question:
“If you had the chance to change your school or community with one idea, what would it be?”
This is an open call to action, for ideas that are rooted in STEM, driven by purpose, and aimed at solving problems that young Nigerians face daily.
Who Can Apply?
The competition is open exclusively to current Head Girls and Assistant Head Girls in secondary schools across Nigeria. Whether you’re from a rural town in Kogi or an urban hub in Abuja, this is your stage.
No matter your academic track, Science, Arts, or Commercials, you’re encouraged to apply. The competition isn’t about your subject combination; it’s about your capacity to lead and innovate.
So, if you’ve identified a problem in your school or community and have a solution that involves Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics, we want to hear from you.

Why STEM?
While leadership is often associated with charisma and communication, this competition recognizes that real leadership today must include innovation. That’s where STEM comes in.
By tying ideas to STEM-powered solutions, the National Head Girl Competition pushes young women to think analytically and act boldly. Whether it’s designing an app to monitor attendance, engineering a water filtration system for a rural school, the possibilities are as wide as your imagination.
What’s at Stake?
Aside from National recognition and the chance to represent your region on a competitive platform, the ₦1 million grand prize can fund not just your idea but your future.
