We launched our first physical activation for our #MsRepresented campaign! WILAN in partnership with Zikoko, participated in Nigeria’s largest female-only festival, HERtitude 2024. As a sponsor, we were involved in various activities that aligned with the WILAN goals and objectives.
From the opening remarks to the after-party, the day was all about young women letting their hair down, networking and building a thriving community with each other.
Become a global leader in 5 minutes
Our main attraction at the festival was the MsRepresented experience booth, where we set up an interactive fashion dress-up activity that got everyone talking: “Transform into a Global Leader in 5 Minutes!”
Here is how it worked: All participants had the opportunity to dress up as 4 different female leaders. Selected leaders were: Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Michelle Obama. Beyoncé and Malala Yousafzai. With an onsite styling team, we provided a variety of props—bold blazers, necklaces, hijabs and hats—everything that attendees could use to dress like and channel their inner global leader.
The result? A gathering of creative and powerful women, each striking a pose and embodying the confidence it takes to lead on a world stage. It was a light-hearted activity with a powerful message: leadership is accessible, and you already have the potential within you.
We kicked things off with a panel session titled “Hot Babes in Leadership” which was the centrepiece of our involvement. Featuring a powerhouse group of female leaders who are redefining what it means to be a leader. We had Hauwa Lawal, a proficient digital content specialist who was the session host, and the speakers: Morenike Olusanya, an award-winning visual artist, illustrator and entrepreneur, Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade, the Executive Secretary of Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, and Jennie Nwokoye, the founder of Clafiya, a health startup.
During the session, our speakers had candid discussions on their journeys and shared tips on how others can achieve success in the tech, fashion and public sector. It was a much-needed conversation filled with insightful advice, and lots of laughter. It was a powerful reminder that leadership comes in all shapes and sizes, and every woman has the potential to be a “Hot Babe” leader. . The panellists also provided valuable strategies for overcoming obstacles and achieving success.
Celebrating Leadership Excellence
The night ended on a high with WILAN presenting the Leadership Excellence Award to Damilola Olokesusi, the CEO of Shuttlers, a leading mobility startup in Lagos, Nigeria. Damilola’s dedication to innovation, her commitment to empowering her team, and her unwavering vision for the future of transportation truly embody the spirit of a “Hot Babe” leader. We were honoured to present her with this award and celebrate her achievements.
